A very important part of being an involved student at Duke is finding the balance between your academic and extracurricular commitments. Balance is an essential concept for college students, and you will revisit it again and again throughout your undergraduate career.  Here are some tips on how to strike a balance.

Prioritize

Prioritizing your assignments can help you get things done more effectively. Rank the urgency of the tasks that you need to have completed for all of your activities and follow through with them, accordingly.

Coordinate

Make a plan of action for completing the tasks at hand. It may be helpful to create a to-do list.

Enjoy yourself

This has the utmost importance when it comes to avoiding stress. Make sure that you are engaged in activities that feed into you having a good time. You may find that you are more productive when you are involved in activities that you enjoy.

Balance is different for everyone. What may work for someone else, may not  be right for you. Get to know your management style!
